Information about DVD Shrink and it's various features
This page contains various guides, tips and tutorials to help make using DVD Shrink easier and more understandable. I have created a few animated flash tutorials that are easy to follow.
DVD Shrink is software to backup DVD discs. You can use this software in conjunction with DVD burning software of your choice, to make a backup copy of any DVD video disc.
DVD Shrink will also open selected burning programs automatically to burn your backup DVD, if you have installed Nero 6 Nero 7, DVD Decrypter or VSO Software's CopyToDVD.

The output from DVD Shrink can also be saved as files or as an ISO disc image on your hard drive, which you can then burn with software of your choice.

You can download Shrink here. All of these versions shown here will enable you to burn automatically with DVD Decrypter, Nero or Copy to DVD. In addition, a version here will replace DVD Decrypter with ImgBurn for automatic burning. This version is recommended and will still allow the use of Nero or Copy To DVD.
ImgBurn is an up to date version of the DVD Decrypter burn engine which is no longer supported.
I also offer an English De-CSS free version as well as a German De-CSS free version of this program for those who live in regions that prohibit the use of De-CSS based programs.

What does "autoburning" or "Automatic Burning" with Shrink mean?
The earlier versions of Shrink would let you "Shrink" your movie and then the program placed the results in a location on your hard drive. You would then open a burning program, load up the "shrunk" movie and then burn.
Towards the end of Shrink's development a feature was added that automated this process.
If you have one of the listed DVD burning programs installed on your computer and check the correct boxes in Shrink's burn menu, Shrink will find and then open the selected burning program for you. This will all happen automatically when Shrink has completed the encoding of your movie

You don't have to open the burning program, Shrink will do that for you. Just make sure you have the burning program installed on your PC and a blank DVD in your burner!
This process is very seamless. Many people think that Shrink is burning their movie when in reality they have Nero installed and Shrink has called it to do the burn.
Shrink's default settings include using Nero to start the burn process.

Please note that Flash .exe files are provided for those who do not want to wait for a download each time they want to watch a tutorial. These .exes are identical to the original. Once downloaded they can be run on your own computer.

My Favorite Method
I have used all the methods and programs listed here in this website to copy DVDs at one time or another. They all work and give good results! However, I always go back to "movie only" backups using Shrink/Nero with AnyDVD running in the background. Sometimes I just want to get the copy done so I can do something else, like watch the movie! This method gives me what I'm after, a simple copy of the movie with no menus, no extras, no trailers and most importantly, no hassles!
I keep my computer healthy by doing proper maintenance, I use high quality media at a reasonable burn speed and I keep all my programs up to date.
Burning DVDs and working with video is enjoyable and rewarding. I hope you take some time and try a few of the programs and procedures listed here and elsewhere.
